The commercial was filmed at the salford stage of the pie factory in manchester in 2009. Influences for the set design were an eclectic combination of kitch futuristic elements of flash gordon and the beetles’s yellow submarine.

The final set was painted with a yellow base colour and finished with a hexagonal gold glitter product set in a matt glaze. We created a submarinal fantasy backdrop, based on a vision of simplified vision of atlantis, that could be viewed through the submarine portal using a scenic artist and backlighting a traditional stretched canvas.

The set was constructed by pete johnson and his team of carpenters and painters.
